I am typing this at a resolution of 2560x1440 over HDMI, and let me tell you, it's beautiful! :) My setup up: Sony VPCZ1 with Geforce 330M. 1m long HDMI cable, no brand. Dell 2713HM. First of all I updated the Geforce drivers using the hacked drivers from: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/342947-my-discoveries-vaio-z-s-hybrid-graphics-252.html#post7176699 This may put other people off but there has been a lot of work put into these by several people at notebookreview. Then right click the desktop and choose NVIDIA Control Panel. Choose Change screen resolution from right hand menu. Make sure Dell U2713HM is selected on the left panel. Choose Customise... Create Custom Resolution... Change Horizontal to 2560 Change Vertical to 1440 Refresh rate 40 (highest that would work in my testing) Colour depth 32 Scan type progressive Expand Timing menu Choose CVT reduced blank Choose test Hopefully should work! If so choose yes to save. Choose OK to close Customise window. (may have gone back to lower res by now – don't panic) Now close NVIDIA control panel – try as I might I could never get the new resolution to "stick" Right click desktop Choose Screen resolution Make sure Dell is the chosen display Choose Advanced settings Choose list all modes on Adaptor tab Scroll all the way to the bottom and select your new 2560 by 1440, True color (32bit), 40 Hz Ok Apply Bingo! -------------------------------- User #589730 1 posts bunnyfluffy I'm new here, please be nice reference: whrl.pl/RdIibO posted 2013-Sep-15, 9:20 am I have found a cable that allows me to use the U2713HM over HDMI @ 55Hz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your computer must be outputting HDMI 1.3 or 1.4. The cable is "Kumo High Speed HDMI to DVI 24+1 Cable" I bought mine on Amazon for 9.99. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will need to make a custom resolution. If you have Intel graphics (even if you have nVidia optimus), go to your system32 folder and find a program called "CustomModeApp.exe" This will allow you to make a custom resolution. Enter 2560, 1440, 55, CVT-RB ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any refresh above 55 puts out an image, but it's covered in white or red dots. If anyone knows why this is, please let me know.
