Lyginant su JPEG - naujovė. Tačiau dabar yra geresnių (nebūtinai 
suspaudimo atžvilgiu) suspaudimo algoritmų.
O Jpeg2000 nepapilito, nes kūrėjai užsimanė licenzinio mokesčio netgi 
dekodavimui.
