"I was the Jon H. referred to in the Digital Bits article (thanks Bill H. 
for the shout-out by the way) about Cameron's comments regarding The Abyss 
as I asked him when he was here in Seattle for a benefit screening of 
Avatar, and met him afterward. When I did he was quite enthusiastic about 
The Abyss and his upcoming work for the Blu-ray transfer, since he said he 
was getting ready to start work on it, and unsure how long this process 
takes, I would not be surprised to see the release sometime around 
October-December 2011, but hopefully earlier. He was quite pleased with how 
Aliens turned out, and said everyone will be blown away by it, but I suspect 
there will be some people who are disappointed when A2 comes out, as there 
always are for every Blu-ray title released, myself included at times as 
some releases have been lacking to use that word lightly but I have nothing 
but faith for Cameron doing a top notch job on both Aliens, Abyss and 
eventually True Lies. "
