Product:	EODIS2

Symptom:	Is i1Display 2 suitable to calibrate sony WCG-CCFL monitor (Wide
Color Gamut Cold Cathode Fluorecent Lamp)?

Proposed Resolution:	Better use Eye-One Spectrophotometer (Eye-One Basic)

Hello,
thank you for your request.
Lots of customers are using an Eye-One Display 2 to calibrate wide color
gamut LED displays with an i1Display 2 successfully and the resulting
quality fully fits to their needs (visually corrected colors, smooth
gradations, neutral grays, corret luminance, white point, gamma).
However, if you have very high expectations on the resulting quality
(minimum deltaE), a full spectrophotometer like an Eye-One (included in the
product Eye-One Basic) will probably deliver more exactly results than the
i1Display 2 Colorimeter (spectral measurements in defined R,G,B ranges). An
Eye-One Pro hase even a better measurement repeatability (device is even
more expensive).
A re-certification of the Eye-One once a year is recommended especially when
doing reflection measurements (printer profiling, proofing verification
according to ISO print standards, etc.). Of course, for optimum performance,
I would remain t o recommend a re-certification once a year in any case,
however, if you decide to do it e.g. once every two years, it would probably
also work.
A re-certification of an Eye-One is for roughly 150,- EURO. The device needs
to be send to Service Department Switzerland then.

Liane May

Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to return to discussion concerning
calibration of wcg monitors. Previously I used case 2009-00020525 for this
matter. Recently I read interesting message in Apple forum
(http://lists.apple.com/archives/colorsync-users/2009/Nov/msg00175.html ),
where Mr J.Raimar Kuhnen-Burger states, that Display 2 is not ver y suitable
for wcg monitor calibration due to big dE and etc. 1.Next year I would like
to buy LED LCD TV and to calibrate it using my Display 2. But after reading
above mentioned message I have very big doubt if Display 2 is
suitable/capable for such task. Do you provide free or not free Display 2
firmware update for corect calibration of wcg monitors. If it is not free,
how much would it cost? Could you clear this with product specialists with
reference to above message in Apple webpage concerning Display 2 suitability
to calibrate wcg monitros with wcg CCFL or LED backlights. 2. If I will
decide to buy iPhoto Basic with iPro, do I need to send every year to your
company for iPro factory reference recalibration of the device? If yes, how
much does it cost? Thank you in advance for your reply. With best regards,
xxx
