Įvykis aktualus, nes Lietuva tokią procedūrą patiria pirmą kartą. Nenuostabu, kad svetimame darže besidairantys kitų valstybių atstovai pastebi, kad tai su seksualinėmis, tai su tautinėmis mažumomis kas ne tai, ir šiaip visokių bėdų susakė. Tačiau Rusijos išsakyta rekomendacija Lietuvai pribloškia. Cituoju (vertimas mano): "Nutraukti bandymus peržiūrėti Antrojo pasaulinio karo pasekmes, veteranų-antifašistų persekiojimą ir nacistinių nusikaltėlių šlovinimą". Į tai belieka atsakyti (ir tai padariau) Jungtinėse Tautose, kad ši rekomendacija remiasi ne faktais, o neteisingais vertinimais. Lietuva dvidešimtojo amžiaus viduryje buvo okupuota tris kartus: komunistinės Sovietų sąjungos, nacionalsocialistinės Vokietijos ir vėl Sovietų sąjungos. Tenka priminti, kad visi okupantai negerbė žmogaus teisių ir padarė baisių nusikaltimų prieš žmoniją. Kiekvienos teisinės valstybės pareiga yra padaryti viską, kad karo nusikaltėliai ir kiti nusikaltėliai žmogiškumui atsakytų prieš įstatymą, net jei kai kuriais atvejais šie nusikaltėliai yra heroizuojami ar gavo medalius už savo nusikaltimus. Bent jau Lietuva daro viską, kad taip ir įvyktų, o Rusiją kviečiu bendradarbiauti, kad nusikaltėliai atsakytų už savo veiksmus. Jungtinėse Tautose gal ir neįprasta, kad Rusija gautų tiesų atsakymą į savo pareiškimus. Gal todėl mūsų didžiųjų kaimynų Užsienio reikalų ministerija išplatino pareiškimą, kad mano pozicija buvo "liguista". Man belieka daryti vieną išvadą - sovietų pasaka Rusijoje dar gyva.
